Cox College Fieldwork Overview

Students are assigned four Level-I fieldwork experiences woven into the curriculum and connected to course work and two full time, 12-week Level-II experiences at the conclusion of their education. As stated in Donna Costa’s book, The Essential Guide to Occupational Therapy Fieldwork Education; Resources for Educators and Practitioners, “the purpose of fieldwork education is to propel each generation of occupational therapy practitioners from the role of student to that of practitioner” (2015, pg. 3). Cox College has approximately 1,120 hours of fieldwork experiences as a part of the curriculum. The students have a classroom or curricular tie to enhance the learning and understanding that occurs prior to, during, and after each of these experiences.

The following is an overview of the curriculum with highlights in the areas of fieldwork.
